Aluminium Profiles

Aluminium inspires technologists, industrial designers, engineers and architects to solve everyday problems.

While well established in a number of industries for decades now, new applications and designs keep aluminium at the forefront of new product design.

Aluminium is a modern metal which today is very much a metal of the future.

  • Non-toxic

  • Non-magnetic

  • Highly reflective

  • Can be welded, glued, screwed, riveted, clipped bent, etc.

  • Infinitely and cost-effectively recycled.

  • Low density  (its famous “lightweight” attribute)

  • High strength to weight ratio

  • Corrosion resistance

  • Electrical conductivity

  • Thermal conductivity

  • Attractive surface finish

  • Ease of forming

Aluminium is used in a wide range of forms and in an enormous range of products: -  in buildingsboats and planes, trains, trucks, carspackaging, computers, cell phones, solar farms, electrical transformers, overhead power lines, tamper proof packaging for medicines, containers for food and beverages.

Aluminium Composite Panels

Composite Panels

Panel Size
The aluminium composite panel can be cut to the customer’s specific size requirements. The average size is 1250mm by 3200mm with 1500mm by 5800mm being the maximum size.

Panel Gauge
The panel gauge refers to the thickness of the entire panel. This thickness can vary depending on the customer’s specifications, with the common thickness being between 4mm and 6mm.

Skin Gauge
The skin refers to the aluminium sheet on either side of the core. This skin is available in 0.2mm to 0.5mm thickness with 0.2mm and 0.3mm being popular for signage purposes and 0.4mm and 0.5mm being popular for cladding purposes.

The 1000 series aluminium is the commonly used alloy however the 3000 series alloy can be used on request.

The warrantees given on the aluminium composite panels are dependent on the finishes. A PE paint finish has a warrantee of 5 to 8 years whereby a PVDF paint finish can be guaranteed up to 30 years. The location factors however are affecting factors, with close proximity to the ocean decreasing the warrantee lifespan.

Aluminium composite panels are a sandwich of two aluminium skins on the outer with a polyethylene or mineral core in the center.

Installation Guidelines

  • Handle with care to avoid damage and destruction

  • Keep the protective film on until the site is free from construction

  • Ensure that the panels all face the same direction when being installed to avoid reflection

  • Allow for thermal expansion although weather resistant between -50°C and +80°C

  • Before installation don’t stack panels in more than 6 of the same size to avoid destruction

  • Don’t store panels for more than 6 months to avoid destruction from weather and the  storage  situation

Surface Finishes

  •  Colour Retention

  • Resistant to colour change

  • Resistant to chalking and erosion

  • Resistant to temperature change

  • Resistant to dirt

  • Low in maintenance

  • Long life span

  • Impact resistant
